In your browser
- With Find pages on, ISA (the bubble that ISAI’s extension shows next to your AI) reads the AI chat that you have open, in your browser. It finds a few topic keywords and one intent label (learning, building, researching, deciding, creating). This works on the AI chat sites that ISAI supports, and on sites that you add.
- When Chrome has its built-in AI model, that model does this reading on your computer. The chat does not go to ISAI or over the internet. You can turn this off in ISAI Settings.
- It never reads chats you do not open (an ISAI task reads only the chats it opens for that task), your AI account, files or images, or anything while ISA is Off.
- Your messages and the AI’s answers stay in your browser. Text leaves only when you tap for it: “To notes” or “Add the last answer” puts it in your own ISAI Doc. You can turn off the question about copied text in ISAI Settings. An ISAI task is the one exception, and only when you start it (below).
- ISAI tasks (with an ISAI account): ISAI is a web app on this website, at
/app. You can try ISAI tasks without an account. ISAI then counts your tasks under a random guest id made in your browser; it keeps no goal, prompt or answer, the same as for an account. ISAI’s extension drives your AIs for it. When you start a task, the extension opens the AI sites that you picked in tabs next to the ISAI page, in your own browser, with your own sign-ins. ISAI types your goal and its step prompts into those chats, sends them and reads the answers there. These chats stay in your AI accounts, like chats that you write yourself. Nothing runs before you approve the plan. ISAI stops at sign-in pages, robot checks and usage limits, and asks you. In Chat with one of your AIs picked, your words go only to that AI: ISAI’s server does not get them. ISAI’s own answers: with no AI picked, ISAI answers. Then your message and the chat so far go to ISAI’s server and ISAI’s AI provider, once, to write the answer, or to make a plan when it is a bigger job for your AIs. ISAI keeps neither the message nor the answer on its server; the chat stays in your browser. Attached files: when you drop or attach a file in the ISAI app, your browser reads its text (PDF and Word files too); the file does not go to ISAI’s server. The text goes with your message: to the AIs that do the task, or to ISAI’s AI provider, once, when ISAI answers. For a plan, ISAI’s server gets only the names of the files. What your AIs make: the pictures, videos, audio and files that your AIs make in their chats, and the questions that they ask you, are copied into the ISAI page in your browser, with the task; they do not go to ISAI’s server. Request an AI: when you ask ISAI to add an AI (in Your AIs), ISAI keeps its name, its address, what it is for and your note, with your account, so the ISAI team can add the AIs that people ask for most. Listen and Speak: Listen reads an answer aloud with your browser’s own voice, on your computer. Speak uses your browser’s speech recognition: in Chrome, the sound of your voice goes to Google to become words, under Google’s terms. ISAI gets only the words in the message box, and only when you send them. When your computer has Chrome’s built-in AI, ISAI reads your chat message on your computer to suggest a team task for a bigger job; the message does not leave your browser for this. Your list of tasks and their answers stays in your browser, in the storage of the ISAI page, kept apart for each account: Sign out hides it, it comes back when you sign in again, and another account on this browser does not see it. Temporary chat: a temporary chat is not in your list of tasks, ISAI does not use what it knows about you in it or learn from it, and ISAI deletes it from your browser when you leave it. ISA in the ISAI app: when you pick ISA in a chat, your message, the chat so far and your attached files go to ISAI’s server and ISAI’s AI provider once, with the pages ISA finds; with “Use what ISAI knows about me” on (not in a temporary chat), also a short summary of what ISA learned about you that fits the message (your confirmed topics and projects, related words, the formats and sites you like, and what you do not want to see). ISAI keeps none of it, keeps no words of the search, and learns nothing from these chats; your other AIs never get this summary. Notifications: when you turn on “Tell me when it is done”, your browser shows ISAI’s notification on your computer; it has only ISAI’s words (for example “Your team finished”), never your goal or an answer, and nothing about it goes to ISAI’s server. Live view (optional, off until you turn it on in ISAI Settings): while you watch one of your AIs full screen in ISAI, the extension takes pictures of that AI tab, about two a second. The pictures stay in your browser; they are never sent to ISAI or kept. To show which AIs are ready, the extension keeps only if each AI site shows you signed in, and when. It looks only after you use ISAI, and never when ISA is Off. Move a chat (ISA, Continue in and Use this chat in ISAI): when you tap it, ISA reads the open chat in your browser and types it into the other AI’s message box, or gives it to the ISAI page. It goes to no ISAI server, and ISAI never sends it: you read it and send it. What ISAI knows about you (off until you turn it on in the ISAI app’s account menu): ISAI gives the ISAI page your confirmed topics and the names of your projects from ISA, never chat text. The page picks the ones that fit your goal in your browser and shows them in What ISAI sends before you send. Then they go to your AI with your request. Turn it off, and ISAI gives the page nothing. AI updates (on by default; turn it off or change the time in ISAI Settings): once a day at your time, ISAI shows what is new in the AIs that you used with ISA or ISAI in the last 30 days. ISAI knows which AIs from the AI site of each ISA search and from your ISAI tasks, never from your chats. It keeps each day’s list for 90 days, with when you saw it and if you marked it useful. A notification shows only if you allow it in ISAI Settings. Learn from my results (off until you say yes in the ISAI app): ISAI keeps what happened in your tasks, as labels and counts: which AI did which kind of step, if it finished or failed and why, how long it took, a review’s pass or fix, a step that you gave to another AI, an answer that you copied, your rating. Never your goal, prompts or answers. ISAI uses it to give each kind of work to the AI that does it best for you; about 1 in 5 of your tasks uses ISAI’s usual choice, so ISAI can check that this helps. See it or delete it in What ISAI learned (the menu under your name). Help improve ISAI (off by default, only with Learn from my results on): the same labels and counts, with a random id in place of your account, help train ISAI’s own model. Never your words, and never your AIs’ answers. - Check answers: when you tap “Check them” or “Check it”, that part of the answer goes to ISAI and to its AI provider. The AI finds the claims, and ISAI searches the web for each claim. After you tap “Ask the AI to fix this”, ISAI also checks the AI’s next answer in that chat one time. ISAI keeps the claims and their verdicts with your account for 90 days to measure its accuracy. Then it deletes them.
- Time tracker (off until you turn it on in ISAI Settings): the logs that you write, your lists and the timer stay in your browser. They never go to ISAI. A report is made in your browser, and the file goes only to your computer. ISAI counts only that you saved a log, with no words from it, to see if the feature helps. Delete your logs in the tracker at any time. If you use ISAI for Windows and press Link my browser there, the Time tracker is the same in the app and in your browser: your logs go between the two over a private address on your own computer, and never through ISAI.
- Capture and ask (only when you press Alt+Shift+S or use it in the ISAI icon): ISAI takes one picture of the page you look at. It keeps the picture in your browser’s memory until you press Ask or Cancel (it is never saved on the disk). You can hide parts of it and cut it. After Ask, the picture goes to the ISAI page in your browser and, when you press Send there, to the AIs that you picked, in your own accounts. It never goes to ISAI’s server. ISAI warns you when the page looks like a bank, a payment, a sign-in, email or a password manager.
- Record my work (off until you turn it on in ISAI Settings; each recording starts only when you press Start): a red circle shows on the toolbar icon and in the page while it records. ISAI keeps, in your browser only, the steps (the page, and the names of the buttons and fields you use; never what you type) and a few small pictures of the page in front of you. It pauses by itself on a bank, a payment, a sign-in, email, password-manager or health page, on sites you list, and when you are outside the browser. It stops at its time limit and when the browser starts again. ISAI deletes a recording after 7 days; you can delete it sooner. Nothing goes to an AI until you press Ask in ISAI, then Send. ISAI’s server gets only a count that a recording was saved. Chrome asks you to allow ISAI to see all sites for this; ISAI looks at a page only while the red circle is on.
- Other websites: ISAI reads nothing until you pick an ISAI item in the right-click menu. Then only the text that you selected, or the page address and title, goes to ISAI. For a page that you watch, ISAI’s server reads the page itself, one time each day.
- ISAI removes secrets and identifiers (email addresses, phone and card numbers, passwords, keys) before it reads anything.
- ISAI does not send, search, keep or learn sensitive, personal topics: health, sexual life, religion, politics, ethnicity, legal trouble, immigration and money trouble. It stays out of a chat that is about one of them.
Sent to ISAI’s server
- The keywords and the intent label.
- One short sentence about what you need, for example “choosing a CRM for a 10-person team, prices from this year”. Your browser writes it from the chat. It has no secrets, emails, links or phone numbers, and ISAI never writes it for a personal topic.
- The links that the AI cited, the AI site (and the model name when the site shows it), and the pages that you open, keep or rate. Also your answer when ISAI asks “Did this help you?” about an earlier page.
- In On mode, ISAI uses this record to show pages from your other chats when a new chat is about the same subject. Your project names, the chats in each project and the pages that you watch stay with your account.
- Your account: email address, optional name, and a password hash (never the password itself). A sign-in lasts 60 days after you last use it.
- Without an account (a guest): ISAI works in Private mode, so it keeps no keywords and learns nothing. To keep to the free uses, ISAI counts each find and check against the random number that your browser made. When you ask for more uses, ISAI keeps your reason (and your email, if you give one) to answer you. A guest that is not used for 30 days is removed.
- Installs: when you install ISAI, it sends a random number that it made, your operating system and the ISAI version. Your country comes from the request, never your address. When you remove ISAI, Chrome opens an ISAI link with that number. This counts installs and removals. It is not your name or email. When you sign in, the install is linked to your account.
- People, not only browsers: one person can use ISAI on two browsers, and a new install has a new number. To count people and not only browsers, ISAI keeps, for each browser and day, a coded form of your network (never the address itself), your operating system and your time zone. ISAI keeps them for 30 days, then deletes them. ISAI uses them only to count people. It does not look at your computer for more details.
- Sign in with Google (when you choose it): Google tells ISAI your email address, your name and a Google account number. ISAI gets no Google password and nothing else from your Google account. Google’s sign-in loads from Google only on the home page, Install and Sign in.
- Ask ISAI (the bubble on this website, no account) answers questions about ISAI from ISAI’s own knowledge. Your question goes to the AI provider, which writes the answer. ISAI does not keep the question when it answers. When ISAI has no answer yet, it keeps the question so that we can find one. It keeps your email address only if you give it for the answer, and uses it only for that email, never for marketing. ISAI deletes questions after 180 days. The demo (/demo) sends what you type there to the AI model of the view you picked (through ISAI’s AI provider for that model, such as OpenRouter) and searches it the same way; demo chats are not kept. One cookie (
dl_ask, a random id) counts your questions and demo chats against daily limits. What the AI work for your questions costs is counted under a scrambled form of that id, never with what you asked. - ISAI tasks: to make the plan, your goal goes to ISAI’s server (for Project and Research, also to its AI provider). To write the report, your goal and the answers from your AIs go to ISAI’s server and its AI provider. ISAI does not keep them. It keeps only counts: the mode, which AIs, how many steps, which steps failed and why, how long the task took, and your answer to “Better than one AI?”. When a step fails, ISAI also keeps an error record (below).
- Error records: when a step of an ISAI task fails, ISAI keeps an error record with your account for 30 days, so that we can fix the cause. The record has only facts: the AI, the mode, the step and the try, why and where the step stopped, the times, which parts of the AI page ISAI found, if the AI tab was in view, the length of an unfinished answer, the address of the AI page without its ids, your browser, operating system and extension version, and the kind of notice that the AI site showed (for example a usage limit). It never keeps your goal, prompts, answers, files or the text of the page. When ISAI’s own AI or server has an error, ISAI keeps the kind of work, the error and the time (for ISAI’s own AI, also your account), never your words. When an answer looks wrong (for example, the AI says it could not read a file, refuses, or stops in the middle), or when you rate an answer down, ISAI keeps a record of the kind, the AI and the step. It never keeps the answer. Delete my account takes your account off these records.
- ISAI Doc (on this website, at /isai-doc) is different. ISAI keeps what you write in a Doc in your account, so you can come back to it. With ISAI turned on for a Doc, its text is sent to the AI provider to understand it and plan the research. With ISAI turned off, the Doc is only stored, never read. Signing in to ISAI Doc sets one cookie (
dl_doc) that keeps you signed in; it is used for nothing else.
What we keep, and for how long
- In On mode: your ISAI Map (the topics you ask about, which ones go together, which AI you ask about them, and the formats and sources you find useful), saved finds, themes you confirmed you are working on, and a log of searches and interactions for 90 days.
- In Private mode: the search is answered but no keywords are stored and nothing is learned.
- ISAI tasks: no goal, prompt or answer. Only the counts for each task (above), for 90 days, and the error record of a step that failed (above), for 30 days. Your task history stays in your browser.
- Your ISAI Map is in ISAI Settings: remove any topic there, or clear the whole Map. Delete my account there removes everything.
- The people running ISAI can see this data to operate and improve it. We do not sell it or use it for advertising.
Services that help run ISAI
- Search and AI: search queries built from your keywords (never your messages) go to web search and AI providers (Jarvis Labs, Nebius and OpenRouter and the models they run; Google results via Serper or Brave when enabled; Hacker News, arXiv, GitHub, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify). For an ISAI task, your goal and your AIs’ answers go to the AI provider only to plan the task and write the report.
- Your own AI sites (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and others): in an ISAI task, they get the prompts that ISAI types into them, under your own accounts and their own privacy rules.
- Hosting and storage: Vercel (server) and Supabase (database).
- Team alerts: Telegram and email carry short alerts to the ISAI team (for example “New account: s***@gmail.com”, counts, AI site problems and many errors of one kind). No message, goal or answer goes into them.
- Pages ISAI reads to check a find are fetched by ISAI’s own crawler, which respects each site’s robots.txt.
- This website (its pages, not the ISAI app at
/app, ISAI Doc or the Dashboard) uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read, only after you accept Analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Before that, Google’s tag does not load and nothing goes to Google. Then Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga) and receives your browser’s address, which it does not store. ISAI turns off Google signals and ad personalisation. When your browser sends Global Privacy Control, ISAI does not ask and Analytics stays off. Change your choice at any time: Cookie settings, at the bottom of each page. ISAI counts how many people accept or refuse, per day, with no id and no address. Nothing from the ISAI app, ISAI Doc, the extension or your account goes to Google Analytics.
